Golf Swing Tips - What Powers the Golf Swing?

Here is an excellant explanation of power in the golf swing by Paul Wilson.

Paul says:

In this video you'll find out where the power comes from in your golf swing. This is not like other golf tips that have you working on holding your lag angle or swinging as hard as you can as you're driving the ball.

This swing tip explains that the power isn't solely coming from the hands and arms. You have to also learn how to your body to power your swing. Once you do you will see that the combination of the whipping action from your hands and arms connected with the rotational speed of the body can produce shots with more power than you can imagine.

I know there are people out there who think don't need your legs in your golf swing. In some instruction they try to prove their point by getting down on their knees and hitting a ball. In these golf tips they explain that they can hit great shots without using the lower body. This is true. You can hit good shots off your knees but you can hit better shots if you use your legs.

Although the hands and arms are responsible for creating the whipping action of the club, they have to be connected to something. This something is your body that is turning. Don't believe me? Try hitting a ball without turning your shoulders. If you did you couldn't hit it anywhere. So we have to turn our shoulders in the golf swing. If this is the case we should be trying to turn the shoulders as fast as we can. This is done by using your legs.

Golf Swing Tips-Slow Easy Golf Swing

Golf Swig Tips- How To Get That Slow Easy Swing

Paul Wilson explains how to develop a smooth easy, yet powerful, golf swing.

More Golf Swing Tips: http://ignitiongolf.com.

In this golf lesson I show you how to get that smooth, powerful swing everyone marvels at. You know the one. It's that swing that looks like the person is barely swinging yet they hit it a mile and they seem to hit every fairway. Although it looks simple it does take a little effort and the right instruction.

Most people are confused when they see someone with this type of golf swing. They just can't figure out how they do it no matter how much golf instruction they have taken. If this is you, what you are missing is that the body is telling the arms how fast to come down.

In a good golf swing the body only rotates at approximately 2.5 mph. If the body doesn't turn very fast and it's telling the arms how fast to come down the overall swing would appear slow and effortless.

The power is generated through the club hinging and re-hinging in the wrists. The looser the wrists, the more clubhead speed that is generated. If you've ever had some golf instruction or lessons in the past you will have worked on your wrist hinge but in doing so you were most likely trying to hit the ball solely with your arms. This hitting tightens your wrists and actually slows the club down.

To get this easy look you need this looseness in the wrists and you get it by not trying to hit anything at all. In other words, you're just letting the arms go along for the ride.

Ben Hogan Golf Tips

Ben Hogan Golf Tips… there aren`t many, if any, golfers to learn the golf swing from than Ben Hogan.

Before we get to Golf Digest, here`s a video preview of the Ben Hogan golf swing…

Here is a link to a Golf Digest series outlining golf tips from Ben Hogan.

Ben Hogan Golf Tips

Ben Hogan's nine major championships speak for themselves, but he also had an authoritative voice when it came to golf instruction.

Hogan wrote two books on the golf swing -- "Power Golf" in 1948 and "Five Lessons" in 1957 -- that are still sought after by golfers of all levels. Known for his meticulous practice habits, Hogan constantly worked on trying to perfect his swing and these books were his outlet to share the knowledge he'd gained with the general public.

Along the way, Hogan's lessons were sporadically published in Golf Digest as well. Here, we look back at some of these gems that are just as applicable today as when he doled them out.
